Karibe-Afro-Dominican Ethnic Dance
Caribbean dancers present a performanceof graceful movements combined with pulsing rhythms of drumming and pounding feet. Caribbean artist Erick Pichardo leads this group of folk dancers while mixing his own artistic interpretation of the African/European heritage in the Caribbean. Pichardo brings a mixture of native dance and new pieces that incorporate dance with Caribbean historical events. The current repertoire is an interpretation of African religious rites brought over during the long period of slavery in the Caribbean islands.
