The Seventh Annual Tulipanes Latino Art & Film Festival is poised to take the stage on Labor Day Weekend, Thursday, August 30-Sunday, September 2, 2007, with a wide range of cultural representation in film, art, dance, food and music for the whole family.
Tulipanes Receives Community Foundation Grant
Tulipanes Latino Art and Film Festival is honored to announce the recent grant award in the amount of $5,000 from The Community Foundation of the Holland/Zeeland Area.
Tulipanes Latino Art and Film Festival is an annual celebration showcasing and celebrating Latino arts, history and culture through a variety of local and international venues including music, film, poetry, live performance, visual arts, workshops, entertainment and more.

Tulipanes and Huntington Bank are pleased to announce the return of the popular Tulipanes "Salsa Night". Organizers were thrilled with the large turn-out at the 2006 event, that they are happy to announce another evening of celebration! "Salsa Night" will take place on Saturday, September 1.
Salsa! is being held at the Holland Armory, will be transformed featuring the sounds of seven-piece salsa band Orquesta Sensacional.
But don't worry, you don't need to know the moves -- a lesson covering the basics of Salsa and Latin dance will be offered before the band takes the stage, thanks to our local well-known dance instructors.
"El Arte Popular Mexicano" Folk Art of Mexico
The Tulipanes Latino Art & Film Festival in Holland, Michigan is pleased to announce that "El Arte Popular Mexicano" (Folk Art of Mexico) , an art exhibition highlighting the rich history of Mexico, its art, people and culture from the 19th century to the present day will be on display during Tulipanes 2007.
It is said that in Mexico the past is always present. Throughout the country, artists continue to work with the timeless materials of clay, wood and fiber. But rather than seeing past tradidions as fixed and unchanging, Mexican artists turn to them as a limitless source of creative inspiration. As a result, the "popular people's art" of Mexico is flourishing even as rapid globalization challenges traditional cultural values.
Faith & Worship Celebration Returns to Tulipanes
The Tulipanes Latino Art & Film Festival in Holland, Michigan is set to conclude its colorful 2007 festival with a creative worship and lively praise event. Centennial Park, located in Downtown Holland, will become the setting for this outdoor ecumenical worship event. The event will be held on Sunday, September 2, from 3-4pm.
The event is bilingual and will be in Spanish and English. The Lord's Prayer will be prayed in both languages simultaneously demonstrating unity in faith.
Leading the Celebration is local Holland pastor Edgar Gomez. Lively music will also be featured. And rounding out the worship will be the El Puente children's choir from Zeeland Christian Schools singing in Spanish followed by the Salvador Dancers from Turning Pointe School of Dance.
